Egypt Authorities Remove Mortada Mansour From Zamalek

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports announced, on Thursday, the implementation of the ruling issued by the Administrative Court in Cairo against Mortada Mansour.

The ruling was to remove him from the position of chairing the board of directors of Zamalek Sporting Club.

On Sunday, the Administrative Court issued its ruling to cancel the membership of the president of Zamalek, because of the many lawsuits filed against him.

There were also be many trials by the club’s board of directors to call for new elections to fill his post.

The court’s ruling was to “remove the status” of Mansour after accepting a lawsuit filed by two former members of the Zamalek board of directors and others to demand his removal.

This came after he was imprisoned for a month, according to the regulations.

Mansour was imprisoned for one month, from February 25 to March 25, on charges of insulting and defaming Al-Ahly Sporting Club President Mahmoud al-Khatib.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports revealed that it assigned the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Giza to implement the ruling of the Administrative Court, and to notify Zamalek Club.

The ministry called for the appointment of an acting chairman for the board of directors at the nearest ordinary general assembly.

They were also instructed to add an election clause in the meeting, in order to complete the current term for seasons 2021/2025.
